Sam Zealey

Sam Zealey is drawn to surprising connections he finds between the physical and visual world. He appropriates popular household and industrial appliances and structures in order to exhibit the strange and unknown functions made possible by their attributes.

Motivated by the possibility to create a truly unique visual experience by reapplying the discoveries of science and physics, he often exploits the peculiarities of magnetic or mechanical force. He operates as artist, scientist, and engineer as he translates the ordinary into the seemingly impossible and recreates scientific and celestial phenomena.
